11:15 am – noon: Presentation from Five College Museum Collections Management Commons (MCMC) Project Manager, Erin Richardson, and Data Specialist, Carrie Evans.
Erin and Carrie will speak about the exciting work they are doing to help the Five Colleges and Historic Deerfield plan to migrate data from its current museum database MimsyXG and public portal (museums.fivecolleges.edu) to a new one with improved data consistency, interoperability across platforms, and reduced bias in subject headings. There will be time for Q&A at the end.
Friday in person meet up
10:30-11:30 am: Tours of the Yiddish Book Center (meet at the Yiddish Book Center entrance at 10:30). Note there is plenty of parking at the Book Center (the YBC has waived the admission fee for our group but donations are welcome)
11:30- 1 pm: Lunch right across the road at Atkins Farms (there are lots of outdoor picnic tables in addition to indoor seating, so if the weather’s nice, we can eat outside
1:00-2:00 pm: Tours of the Eric Carle Museum (right across from Atkins)
2:00 pm– head over to Smith College Botanical gardens if you’d like to tour on your own! (a 20 minute drive). ($2 suggested admission)
If you plan to join us, you need to do two things – ASAP!:
1. Please R.S.V.P. to chapter president Rachel Beckwith (rbeckwith [at] hampshire [dot] edu) if you plan to come so that we can have a list of names for our group for each museum.
2. Purchase your ticket for the Eric Carle through their website on Eventbrite. You will choose the Friday, October 22, 1-4 pm time slot. They will definitely sell out as they have limited tickets, so they recommend doing this 2 weeks in advance which is NOW!
